Which came first: the Gaucho or the horse?

You may have heard of Gauchos, the horsemen from South America wandering through wide pampas. The image of the Gaucho is a legend, but also culture and reality in parts of Argentina. For a person working in the open fields, there’s no better companion than a horse.

We are in the small town of General Juan Madariaga, not far from Buenos Aires. But it feels like we're years away from the capital, at the times when grass waves in the wind and a man with a guitar longs for his companion. Locals Martin, Jesús and Braian take us to their world to understand the relationship between the gaucho and the horse. 

Being a true gaucho is about more than just horsemanship. It’s about being kind, noble, and someone you can always trust. And a gaucho without a horse… It’s a complicated question.
